What is Retinal Imaging?

Retinal imaging captures high-resolution digital photographs of the back of your eye, including the retina, optic nerve, and blood vessels. This non-invasive test helps us detect and monitor conditions like:

Diabetic Retinopathy
Glaucoma
Macular Degeneration
Retinal Tears or Detachments

It allows us to track changes in your eyes over time and catch potential problems early-often before they affect your vision.

What is OCT?

OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) is like an ultrasound for your eyes-but instead of sound waves, it uses light to create detailed, cross-sectional images of the retina. This helps us see the individual layers of the retina and detect:

Early signs of macular degeneration
Glaucoma-related changes in the optic nerve
Diabetic eye disease
Macular edema or swelling
Subtle changes not visible through standard examination

OCT is fast, painless, and provides crucial insight into your eye health-especially for patients with chronic conditions or those at risk for retinal disease.

* Imaging are usually not covered by OHIP, patients may expect to pay out of pockets for these expenses. We are able to submit direct billing to insurance for patients.
