What to Expect During an Eye Exam

Regular eye exams are a key part of maintaining healthy vision. At Varley Optometry, our comprehensive eye examinations are designed to assess not just how well you see, but the overall health of your eyes. During your visit, your optometrist will ask about your vision and general health history.

You'll then go through a series of simple, painless tests to check your eyesight, how your eyes work together, and whether you may benefit from glasses or contact lenses. We’ll also carefully examine the internal and external structures of your eyes to look for early signs of conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.

Eye exams are quick, comfortable, and an essential step in protecting your long-term vision.

What Happens During a Routine Eye Exam?

A routine eye exam includes several important tests, all designed to give a complete picture of your vision and eye health:

Visual Acuity Test: Measures how clearly you can see letters or symbols at different distances.

Refraction Test: Helps determine your exact glasses or contact lens prescription.

Eye Movement Test: Assesses how well your eyes move and work together.

Eye Health Evaluation: Using special lights and lenses, we examine the front and back of your eyes to detect signs of eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, or retinal issues.

Each of these tests helps us understand your unique vision needs and ensure your eyes stay as healthy as possible.
